LEAGUE OVERVIEW
The Greenbelt Boys and Girls Club basketball program provides recreational basketball opportunities to boys and girls ages 4 to 18. The program develops basic basketball skills that are used in games. Some of those skills include: dribbling, shooting, learning the rules, defensive principles, etc. The child can be at any skill level. Some of the teams are more advanced and will be organized according to skills. All of our teams will compete throughout the county. Teamwork, respect, leadership, and overcoming adversity are our primary goals. We pride ourselves with our players and families representing the values that we promote as a community. We are excited to offer an 18 and older team for youth that have opportunities to play organized basketball.
Our basketball teams hold practice once or twice a week during the fall season. The league begins play in January. Registration begins in November. The club holds workouts and training clinics before the season to introduce and assess the optimal place. Parents must provide their child(ren) with the appropriate basketball equipment including: basketball sneakers, shorts, and shirt. The child's age as of January 1st of the game season determines the team that they are assigned to. Practice locations are in Greenbelt and other locations within a 10-mile radius of Greenbelt
Please be sure to register your child early as teams will be capped. To register your child, you must create a TeamSnap. Registration is online only.
